WASHINGTON, United States (AFP) — US President Donald Trump on Thursday authorized the suspension of controversial tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from key trade partners including the European Union, the White House said. “The tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from the following countries are suspended until May 1, 2018,” the White House said in a statement, listing EU members states, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico and South Korea. © Agence France-Presse
(Eagle News) — Suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits have freed a head teacher they abducted from a Sulu school on Thursday morning. Authorities said Marjorie Abdul, the head teacher of Liang Elementary School in Patikul, was released on the same day, around 11 p.m. They said this was after Abdul’s family paid an unspecified amount for her release. Abdul was inside her office when the suspects barged in and forcibly took her around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
