Ombudsman to CHED: Enforce suspension order vs former CHED exec Vitriolo

(Eagle News)–The Ombudsman has ordered  the Commission on Higher Education to implement its suspension order against former CHED executive director  Jules Vitriolo.

Vitriolo was ordered suspended after he allegedly issued a memorandum recommending to the CHED regional office the issuance of a provisional permit to a private school.

This was in defiance of a commission en banc resolution that had rejected the issuance of the permit.

“Indubitably, Vitriolo issued the memorandum without due regard to the policies and guidelines of CHED,” the Ombudsman said.

According to the Ombudsman, “in the event the penalty cannot be enforced against Vitriolo due to his separation from service, the penalty will be a fine equivalent to his latest salary for three months.

“It may be deducted from his retirement benefits, accrued leave credits or other receivables from office,” the Ombudsman said.
