Officials of Manila Water to face Senate probe next week

(Eagle News) — Officials of Manila Water Company have been asked to explain the severe water crisis affecting its coverage area in the East Zone of Metro Manila and parts of Rizal before the Senate.

The Senate Committee on Public Services led by Senator Grace Poe has already summoned the officials of Manila Water in a scheduled hearing next week.

Poe said that Manila Water should explain how this water crisis came about when the source of their water supply, Angat Dam, still has normal water level.

The senator said that the water concessionaire should have prepared for the summer months since the country’s weather bureau had long warned about the possibility of El Nino prevailing in the country.
