OSLO, Norway (Reuters) — Norway’s King Harald and Queen Sonja were joined by royals from across Europe for their joint 80th birthday dinner at the royal palace in Oslo on Tuesday (May 9) evening.
The official celebration kicked off in the afternoon with a drill show by the King’s guards and the public was also invited to the Palace Square to sing for the royal couple.
The king’s birthday was on February 21 and Queen Sonja’s will be on July 4.
On Wednesday (May 10) evening, a gala dinner will be hosted by the government at the Opera House in Oslo and the celebrations will end with a fireworks display.
