MANILA, Oct. 22 — Initial reports from regional officials of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) show that there were no shutdowns in companies that operated within areas affected by typhoon Lando.
“I am gratified of these initial reports, but my directive for them to continue their assessments as the weather clears still stands,” said Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz.
“Their quick reaction teams need to validate any report in their regions, and to assess the situation, including those of DOLE-assisted livelihood projects, whether these need restoration or other forms of assistance.” she added.
All the regional directors have said they are coordinating with other concerned agencies, including the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Interior and Local Government, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and local government units, to gather information on the effects of the typhoon.
The department is currently awaiting a more detailed assessment report from the regional and field offices. (DOLE)
