NBI nabs doctor for allegedly selling overpriced thermal scanners

(Eagle News)–The National Bureau of Investigation has arrested a doctor for allegedly selling overpriced thermal scanners.

The  NBI said its Special Action Unit  nabbed Dr. Cedric John Sarmiento De Castro in New Manila, Quezon City for  selling the scanners at P9,500 each.

The NBI  said there were allegations the thermal scanners were donated to hDe Castro in his capacity as chapter president of Lion’s Club.

According to the NBI, all in all, De Castro was selling 150  thermal scanners for P1.2 million.

The suggested retail price for thermal scanners ranges from P800 to P1500 in the market.

“Subject was brought to the NBI main office for usual booking procedures and will be brought before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s office for inquest today for charges of profiteering and hoarding,” the NBI said.With a report from Moira Encina
