NBA: Kings’ Collison facing domestic assault charge

LOS ANGELES, United States (AFP) — Sacramento Kings guard Darren Collison is facing a felony domestic violence charge, the NBA team confirmed on Tuesday.

According to a police report, Collison faces one count of inflicting corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant, a felony, and two misdemeanor charges for driving on a suspended license after his arrest on Monday in Placer County, California.

He was arrested Monday after police were called to a home by a woman who said she was being assaulted.

The seven-year NBA veteran is married to Keyosha Collison, but police did not identify the woman involved in the incident.

Collison was booked into Placer County Jail was released later Monday on $55,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 11.

“We’ve been made aware of the situation,” the Kings said in a statement.

“The Sacramento Kings condemn violence of any kind. We are gathering additional information and once all facts are known we will take appropriate steps.”

Collison averaged 14 points, 4.3 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 74 games for the Kings this season. His three-year, $16 million contract runs through next season.
