MRT-LRT common station “very feasible,” says solon

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — In preparation for the upcoming construction of the proposed Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and Light Railway Transit (LRT) station, some congressmen inspected the venue on Wednesday to check the project’s feasibility.

“Based on our inspection, building a temporary station is very feasible since the MRT structure in North Avenue is ready for construction. This will benefit the 30,000 train riders, at no cost to the government,” Congressman Cesar Sarmiento said.

The construction of the P2.8- billion project that aims to connect three main lines of LRT-1, MRT-3 and the MRT-7 (North Avenue, Quezon City to San Jose, Del Monte Bulacan) will start in December this year and is expected to be completed in April 2019.

According to the Department of Transportation (DOTr), some of the project’s benefits will be a seamless transfer from one line to another, convenient walk for platform transforms, wider space and shortcuts to two big malls in the metro.

There will be three areas for the common station:
Area A — where the platform and concourse for LRT-1 and MRT-3 are located
Area B — where the two concourses connecting Areas A and C are located
Area C— where the platform for MRT-7 is located.
