Moreno orders withdrawal of Manila business, mayor’s permits issued to PCSO agents

(Eagle News)–Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has ordered the city’s business licensing office to withdraw all business and mayor’s permits issued to Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office agents, licensees and franchisees.

Moreno issued the order in a memo to Atty. Paul Vega, officer in charge of the department,  after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the termination of all forms of gambling under PCSO’s mandate allegedly due to “massive corruption.”

Duterte did not elaborate.

“You are further directed to submit a report of your compliance herewith within 3 days from receipt thereof,” Moreno said.

In a video posted on the RTVM YouTube account over the weekend, Duterte ordered a halt to the operations of STL, lotto, peryahan ng bayan and keno.

He directed the military and the police to implement the stoppage order.

The PCSO has vowed to appeal the President’s order.
