BARCELONA, Spain (CCTV/Reuters) — The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 opened its doors on Monday in Barcelona, Spain.

It is estimated that more than 95,000 people will attend the four-day event, which is the world’s biggest mobile trade show for the global wireless industry.

At the fair, mobile giant Samsung launched its latest product the Galaxy S7, while Chinese mobile phone maker Huawei unveiled the Matebook, declaring its entry into the laptop market. ZTE, another Chinese telecommunications company, also displayed its high-tech mobile phone.

Virtual reality and 5G technologies are expected to receive much attention during the show.

According to the organizers, almost all hotels, apartments and homestays have been booked. The show is expected to help Barcelona earn around 460 million euros and create 13,000 temporary jobs.

Public transport workers in the city have called a strike during the MWC, but it has not seriously affected the event.
