QUEZON City, Philippines (October 15 ) – Well, you see them in the internet and they’re becoming famous because of their pictures. A meme (/ˈmiːm/ meem) is “an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture”. A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols, or practices that can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena with a mimicked theme. Supporters of the concept regard memes as cultural analogues to genes in that they self-replicate, mutate, and respond to selective pressures.
SHELDON COOPER MEME
Sheldon Lee Cooper is a fictional character in the CBS television series The Big Bang Theory, portrayed by actor Jim Parsons. Sheldon is often described as the stereotypical “geek”. He is usually characterized as extremely intelligent, socially inept, and rigidly logical. Despite his intellect, he regularly displays a lack of common sense. He has a superiority complex, but also possesses childlike qualities, of which he seems unaware, such as extreme stubbornness. He is unknowingly unpleasant to others, even his friends. It is claimed by Bernadette that the reason Sheldon is sometimes nasty is because the part of his brain that tells him it is wrong to be nasty is “getting a wedgie from the rest of his brain”.
THE GRUMPY CAT
The Grumpy Cat meme frowned its way onto the Internet in September 2012 and never turned its unsatisfied head back. Since then, the image of the cranky cat has grown more and more popular in direct proportion to appearing less and less impressed by fame.
The cat behind the meme is Tardar Sauce, named after tartar sauce but adorably misspelled by the youngest member of the cat’s human family. Another family member launched Tardar’s star by posting a photo of the mixed-breed housecat to the social website Reddit, where it was quickly shared and captioned.
THE OVERLY MANLY MAN
Overly Manly Man is an advice animal image macro series featuring a black-and-white photograph of a shirtless, mustachioed man with captions portraying the subject as an overtly masculine alpha male with misogynistic attitudes. The advice animal bears many similarities to other alpha male characters including Chuck Norris, Vernon Koekemoer, Epic Beard Man and Technoviking.
THE CONFESSION BEAR
Confession Bear is an advice animal image macro series featuring a photo of a Malayan sun bear leaning against a log. The images are captioned with confessions about taboo behaviors and controversial opinions that are often kept secret for fear of being ostracized.
Memes are known for fun and entertainment. We just have to limit the use of it so that we may not get into trouble.
