QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) – Some 15,000 residents in Catmon, Malabon City were left homeless after a fire that razed hundreds of houses in the area on Wednesday night, just a day after the fire incident in Parola, Tondo.
The Malabon fire reached alarm level ‘Task Force Bravo.’

One of the residents in the area said: “the fire possibly started from a water-refilling station in Barangay Catmon, Malabon City which spread quickly in the area because the houses are made up of light materials.”

The fire which lasted for six hours reached the second alarm, ‘Task Force Bravo’ at 8:03 in the evening and was announced under control by 11:52 p.m. on February 8.

The affected victims were evacuated at the Catmon Integrated School and in the barangay covered court, while others chose to stay on the street sidewalks when they cannot be accommodated anymore in the crowded evacuation sites.
