LTO warns public vs individuals who offer to facilitate application, renewal of license for a fee

(Eagle News)–The Land Transportation on Thursday, May 7, warned the public against unscrupulous individuals who, through social media, offer their services to facilitate the application for or the renewal of driver’s licenses.

A statement from Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante said these services “are not authorized by the agency and are therefore  patently illegal.”

In the first place, the LTO said it has temporarily suspended applications for and/or renewal of driver’s licenses, other permits, and registration of motor vehicles in view of the enhanced community quarantine imposed amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The LTO said as a result, all driver’s licenses, permits and registration of motor vehicles  which shall expire during the ECQ period shall remain valid.

“We are having this matter investigated to identify and pinpoint these unscrupulous individuals, and those who have knowingly patronized their services in order for us to institute the appropriate criminal, civil, and administrative charges against them,” the statement said.

“Appropriate guidelines and schedule shall be issued by this office for everyone’s information,” it added.
