LPA east of Samar turns into tropical depression Falcon; rains expected in the next two days

(Eagle News) – There is a now tropical depression in the country, with the country’s weather bureau giving it the name “Falcon.”
Falcon was the low pressure area east of Guian, Samar that developed into a tropical depression today, Monday, July 15.

Because of this, scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Bicol region and Eastern Visayas. This is due to the trough of the tropical depression.

There will also rains and thunderstorms to be felt over over MIMAROPA, the rest of Visayas, and Mindanao due to the Southwest Monsoon.

As of 4 a.m. today, the center of Tropical Depression “FALCON” was estimated based on all available data at 990 km East of Virac, Catanduanes (13.8 °N, 133.4 °E ), PAGASA’s latest bulletin said.

It is moving north northwest at 20 kilometers per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kph.

MIMAROPA, the rest of Visayas and Mindanao, will also experience rains and thunderstorms due to the Southwest monsoon.
Light to moderate and at times heavy monsoon rains are also expected tomorrow, Tuesday, July 16, over MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Sulu Archipelago.

“On Wednesday (17 July), moderate to at times heavy rains will be experienced over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, MIMAROPA, CALABARZON, and Western Visayas due to the combined effects of “FALCON” and the Southwest Monsoon,” PAGASA said.

“Residents in the aforementioned areas, especially those living in areas identified to be at risk of flooding and landslides, are advised to take precautionary measures, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates, especially the Thunderstorm Advisories and Heavy Rainfall Warnings to be issued by PAGASA Regional Services Divisions,” it explained.

PAGASA also advises fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts “not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of Mindanao due to rough to very rough seas associated with the Southwest Monsoon.”

By Tuesday morning, July 16, tropical depression Falcon will be 830 km East of Casiguran, Aurora(16.2°N, 129.9°E), and on Wednesday morning, July 17, its location will be at 295 km East of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan(18.0°N, 124.5°E).

On Thursday, July 18, it will be 165 km West of Calayan, Cagayan(19.5°N, 119.9°E).

It is expected to be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Friday morning, July 19.
