LPA east of Cagayan develops into a tropical depression, says PAGASA

(Eagle News) – The low pressure area east of Aparri, Cagayan “developed into a tropical depression” as of 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, the country’s weather bureau, PAGASA said.

The LPA was named Dodong, becoming the first tropical cyclone to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this June, and the fourth tropical cyclone so far this year.

This came about as PAGASA issued a thunderstorm advisory, saying heavy rain showers with lighting and strong winds are expected over Metro Manila, Cavite and Bulacan within the next two hours.

The thunderstorm advisory was issued at 3:08 p.m.

Moderate to heavy showers are also being experienced in Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga. Rizal, Laguna, San Juan in Batangas, and parts of Quezon which may persist within two hours and may affect nearby areas.

PAGASA said that with the entry of tropical depression “Dodong,” it will be issuing a severe weather bulletin later at 5 p.m.
