CLEVELAND, United States (AFP) — Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love will miss Wednesday’s third game of the NBA Finals after suffering a concussion from a blow to the head in game two, the NBA club announced.
Love was listed as out for the pivotal matchup in Cleveland, with the defending champion Golden State Warriors leading the best-of-seven championship series 2-0.
Golden State’s Harrison Barnes struck Love in the back of the head with his left elbow in the second quarter of the Warriors’ 110-77 home triumph Sunday. Love displayed no symptoms until trying to play in the third quarter and became dizzy.
Love remains in the NBA concussion protocol under the supervision and oversight of team physician Alfred Cianflocco, NBA physician Jeffrey Kutcher and team trainer Steve Spiro. His status remains uncertain for game four on Friday.
Love has averaged 16.5 points, a team-high 9.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists a game in the playoffs for the Cavaliers.
