Abby Binay gets another term as Makati mayor
(Eagle News)—Abby Binay won another term as mayor of Makati, besting four others, including her brother Junjun, who were also vying for the post.
Abby garnered 179,522 votes as compared to Junjun’s 98653 votes with 100 percent of election returns transmitted.
Ricky Yabut got 23721 votes, Rene Bondal 3565, and Wilfredo Talag 1541.
In the race for the post of Makati 1st district representative, former acting Makati Mayor Kid Peña stunned former Vice President Jejomar Binay, Abby’s and Junjun’s father, beating him with a margin of only roughly 4,000 votes.
Peña, who took over from then-Mayor Junjun after he was suspended over corruption allegations, had run against Abby for the mayoralty post in 2016 but lost.
In the 2nd district, reelectionist Rep. Luis Campos beat his three challengers, beating his closest rival, King Yabut, by over 10,000 votes.
Campos is the husband of Abby.
