Suspect in slay of octogenarian couple in QC killed during “scuffle” with police

 

The suspect in the killing of an octogenarian couple in Quezon City on Sunday, May 26, has died.

A police report said Carl Joseph Alarin Bananola, 37, who was believed to have killed  Nicolas and Leonora Austria, was dead on arrival in the East Avenue Medical Center on Wednesday, May 29, after he was shot by police  when he grabbed the service firearm of his police escort while on board a police vehicle.

The suspect and the policemen were at that time on their way back to Camp Karingal after Bananola underwent inquest proceedings at the Quezon City Justice Hall.

According to the report, the incident took place at 6:40 p.m.

Before he grabbed the gun, Bananola, the report said,  asked the police to loosen his handcuffs. Earlo Bringas
