The Charlotte Hornets are finalizing a trade sending former Defensive Player of the Year Dwight Howard to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Timofey Mozgov, two future 2nd round draft picks plus cash.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said the move is intended to clear cap space for the 2019-2020 season as the Nets will save $17 million dollars that will allow them to clear enough cap space for two max contracts.
Howard, who has an expiring contract worth $23.8 million, played in 81 ganes and averaged 16.6 points, 12.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in his lone season for the Hornets.
Mozgov played just 31 games for the Nets this past season, averaging just 4.2 points per ballgame.
