Isko Moreno lifts ban on e-trikes in Manila

(Eagle News)–Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has lifted the ban on electric tricycles in the city.

In a meeting with e-trike drivers on Monday, July 29, Moreno however reminded them not to ply main roads in the city, and to conduct themselves properly on the streets.

Vice Mayor Honey Lacuña said the city council would give franchises to the e-trike operators after it finalizes their classification, route and fare.

Moreno promised to push for the decrease in boundary of e-trike drivers to P100 from the previous P150.

Earlier, Moreno ordered the temporary ban on the vehicles after he said it was found they were operating as  “public conveyance” without having secured a franchise from the city council.

“Hence, there was no opportunity to inspect the road worthiness of these e-trikes,” Moreno had said.
