(Eagle News) — In these series of photos released by Malacanang, President Rodrigo Duterte is seen striking his signature clenched fist pose together with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam, during the historic 30th Southeast Asian Games opening ceremonies at the Philippine Arena on Saturday night, Nov. 30, 2019.

The Brunei leader watched the spectacular opening event to show support for the Brunei athletes.

Sultan Bolkiah’s children, son Prince Abdul Mateen, and daughter Princess Azemah, are part of Brunei’s polo team competing in the SEA Games.

His nephew, Faiq Jefri Bolkiah, is also the captain of Brunei’s men’s football squad.

Before this, the two leaders had a bilateral meeting in Malacanang.

President Duterte also cheered, and even danced while the Filipino athletes were on parade to the tune of the song, “Manila, Manila”  during the opening ceremonies to show his full support for the Philippine athletes as well as to the whole SEA Games event which he declared officially open.
