YUNNAN, China (CCTV) — Hundreds of red-breasted parakeets, a species of parrot, have flocked to the city of Ruili in southwest China recently, attracting photographers across the country to capture the spectacular sights.

Red-breasted parakeets would come in droves to Ruili in Yunnan Province’s Dai-Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture every autumn when the corn on the farmland by the Ruili River is ripe.

Thanks to the sound local ecological environment, more and more red-breasted parakeets are coming to the area every year. The scene of hundreds of parrots flying together is indeed fascinating.

“There are hundreds of green parrots flying back and forth over woods and corn fields. They are so amazing. We joked that it’s like a ‘parrot rain’,” said Zhu Bianyong, an amateur photographer.

The red-breasted parakeet is included in the Red List of Threatened Species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
