FLORIDA, United States (Eagle News) – “When Crazy Happens,” there’s free pizza for lunch. And hundreds of Americans lined up for this.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association partnered with Little Caesar’s Pizza in launching a pizza promo on Monday, April 2, to celebrate “When #16 beats #1”, during the Men’s 2018 national basketball tournament.

UMBC (University of Maryland Baltimore County) men’s basketball team beat Virginia Cavaliers last month in the first round of the playoffs, which marked the first time in NCAA Men’s basketball history, when a 16th seeded team defeated a 1st seeded team.

Little Caesar’s called this promo, “When Crazy Happens”, which entitles one free 4-slice pizza and a 20oz. soda per customer. The promo lasted from 11:30am-1pm, according to their twitter feed.

Hundreds of Americans did not hesitate to line up in front of their closest Little Caesar’s location to get their free lunch combo. Some customers waited in line for several minutes. Fellow EBC Florida Correspondent, Jay Rosquites, lined up with his son, to take his share.

“I think this is a great promotion, in the name of sports. The line out here kinda shows you that people love free stuff. But it also is a good gesture by the NCAA and Little Caesar’s as well,” Rosquites said, while waiting in line at the Dunedin location.

After 22 minutes in line, Jay and his son, received their lunch combo, courtesy of the pizza chain. As for the others who were in line behind him and didn’t make the cutoff, perhaps they will have to wait until next year to see, “When Crazy Happens”.
