Reuters — “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” held on to the top spot at the North American box office for a second week, according to Box Office Mojo.

Starring Ryan Reynolds, Salma Hayek and Samuel L. Jackson, the film took in an estimate $10 million for the weekend of August 25-27, the film revenue tracking site said on Sunday (August 27).

It added that the weekend box office over all, however, was “miserable” at an estimated combined gross of under $50 million, something it said had not happened during an August weekend in more than 20 years.

Still, horror flick “Annabel: Creation” held on to its second place with an estimated $7.35 million over the weekend.

New at No. 3 was The Weinstein Company’s animated feature “Leap!” with an estimated box office haul of $5 million – a disappointing sum given the film played at well over 2,500 theaters.

Rounding out the top five were The Weinstein Company’s “Wind River” and Bleecker’s “Logan Lucky, which tied together at $4.4 million each in estimated weekend sales.

Crime thriller “Wind River” stars Elizabeth Olsen and screened at the Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard section in May. “Logan Lucky” stars Channing Tatum and Adam Driver as two brothers who set out to rob a major race at a motor speedway.
