MANILA, Philippines – For the first quarter of the year, the Philippines recorded an additional 100, 000 metric tons of rice harvested compared to a similar period last year. Still, said additional harvest did not manage to reach government target. Authorities estimated that the following rice harvests for this year will be low due to the El Niño phenomenon.
