Go says Duterte visit to Russia “very fruitful”; President looking forward to meeting Filipino community today




(Eagle News) – Senator Christopher “Bong” Go said the visit of President Rodrigo Duterte in Russia so far was “very fruitful” and that they are looking forward to meeting the Filipino community in that country set today,  Saturday, October 5.

In an interview with Eagle News Service in Russia, Go said that President Duterte considers it very important to meet with the Filipino community there.

Very fruitful po ang biyaheng ito. Most important, ang Filipino community here in Russia. Makahalubilo lang man namin, makausap, kung ano ang mga problema nila marinig namin. Mag-iwan kami ng ngiti sa mga kapatid nating Pilipino dahil mahal po namin sila,” Go said in an interview by Eagle News Service correspondent in Russia, Emy Coloma.

Go said that the President also had a successful lecture at the Valdai Discussion Forum the previous day.

Duterte is set to meet with the Filipino community at 6 p.m. (Russian time) in Moscow on Saturday.

This will be the last activity of the President before heading back to the Philippines.

On Friday, October 4, when Senator Go was interviewed, the President and his delegation went to the Four Seasons Hotel for the Philippine Gala performance of the Philippine Madrigal Singers and the Bayanihan Dance group which was also attended by several members of the diplomatic community in Russia, including students from the Moscow State University who are studying Philippine culture and language.

Philippine ambassador to Russia Carlos Sorreta said that there are around 10,000 Filipinos working in Russia, but most of them are “not properly documented yet.”
