(Reuters) — Hollywood actress Glenn Close received a Golden Icon award at the Zurich Film Festival on Sunday (October 1) and emotionally dedicated the prize to her actress daughter Annie Starke.
Close met cheering fans on the green carpet before receiving the award in front of a full auditorium in Zurich’s Cinema Corso.
The six-time Oscar nominated star was recognized for her achievements in film, which have included star turns in ‘Fatal Attraction’, ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ and ‘Albert Nobbs’.
She described winning the award as both ‘humbling’ and ‘gratifying’ before she then dedicated the prize to her daughter who was onstage with her.
Close has won two Golden Globes and three Emmy awards during her long film, TV and stage career.
Her latest film ‘The Wife’ showed at the Toronto Film Festival, with critics praising Close’s performance as Joan Castleman, the wife of a celebrated, Nobel Prize winning author (played by British actor Jonathan Pryce).
Starke also appears in the film during flashback sequences as a younger version of Joan.
The 13th Zurich Film Festival runs until October 8th with both Roman Polanski and Jake Gyllenhaal due to appear in the coming days.
