LOS ANGELES, United Satates (AFP) — Blood-spattered fantasy epic “Game of Thrones” capped a historic night by winning the Emmy for best drama series on Sunday.

The HBO hit show– now the most decorated narrative series in history with 38 Emmys over the years — saw off “Better Call Saul,” “Downton Abbey,” “Homeland,” “House of Cards,”  “Mr Robot” and “The Americans” for the evening’s biggest prize.

The all-time Emmy list of winners — which includes nonfiction — is topped by NBC comedy sketch show “Saturday Night Live,” with 45 awards.
