(Eagle News) — “We will not stop. We will fight all of them.”

This was the response of the father of Horacio Castillo III when sought for comment on the Supreme Court’s order to release from Senate detention Arvin Balag.

Balag is the head of the Aegis Juris fraternity believed responsible for the University of Sto. Tomas’ student’s death.

“And naniniwala kami na makakamit namin ang justice that our Atio deserves,” Horacio Castillo Jr. said.

He admitted, however, that they were “hoping” that Balag would stay longer in Senate detention.

“…Pero meron tayong sinusunod na batas,” he added.

By virtue of the Supreme Court order, Balag was released from Senate detention on Thursday night, more than two months after he was first detained for refusing to answer the lawmakers’ questions about his role in the fraternity believed responsible for the death of the younger Castillo in September.

“The Court resolves to order…in the interim the immediate release of petitioner Arvin Balag on the basis of his prayer set forth in his Motion to Resolve Petition (with fourth most urgent reiterating motion for the issuance for the issuance of a temporary restraining order and/or immediate release of petitioner) pending the resolution of the instant petition by the Court,” the two-page resolution made public by the High Court on Friday read.

Castillo, a University of Sto. Tomas law freshman student, died due to massive trauma brought about severe injuries believed inflicted from fraternity hazing rites. (With reports from Meanne Corvera and Moira Encina, Eagle News Service)
