LA VERNE, California (Reuters) — A fast-moving brush fire was threatening hillside homes in Los Angeles County on Sunday (July 23) as numerous fire-fighting aircraft scrambled to drop water and retardant on the blaze.
Local media said the fire had grown to 20-acres (8 hectares) on Sunday afternoon, threatening at least a dozen homes in La Verne and prompting fire officials to advise voluntary evacuations.
The so-called Rodeo Fire was also impacting local highway traffic and drivers were being warned to avoid the area.
