(Eagle News) — Senator JV Ejercito on Wednesday, Jan. 31, urged the Department of Transportation to suspend the operations of the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange because of what he said was an apparent absence of cohesive and synchronized planning.

“Parang hindi naplano nang maayos. They should have conducted a synchronized planning first before they started operating the PITX. Kung talagang hindi handa, baka dapat itigil na muna,” he said.

According to Ejercito, for instance, there were reports that only elected bus companies were using the terminal on Coastal Road, prompting some passengers not to use the PITX in the first place.

He said there was also the need for shuttles that will transport passengers from business districts such as Makati, Ortigas and Bonifacio Global City to the PITX pending the completion of the Light Rail Transit Line 1-Cavite Extension Project to ensure the convenience of passengers.

The LRT Line 1 Extension Project, which seeks to extend the 20.7-kilometer LRT 1 by an estimated 11.7 kilometers, is expected to be operational in 2020.

“Ituloy na lang after ma-review ang proseso at maiayos na para hindi nahihirapan ang ating mga mananakay,” Ejercito said.

The PITX is the first integrated terminal in the southwestern part of Metro Manila which functions as a transfer point for provincial buses from Cavite and Batangas and in-city modes of transportation.
