When ‘Twilight’ was first released in 2005, the love story of Bella, a teenage girl and the vampire Edward became a worldwide sensation and spawned another three books and five films, despite an initial lukewarm reception from book critics.
The books and films were a huge hit with mainly teenage girls and made stars out of the actors of the movie – Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.
On Tuesday (October 6) the book’s publisher, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, announced that a 10th anniversary edition of the book is being released as a dual edition with another title ‘Life and Death’, which sees the well-loved romance reimagined but with the genders reversed.
In ‘Life and Death’, Bella is now Beau, Edward is now Edyth, and Edward’s love rival Jacob has now become Julie.
The publisher quoted the author in a statement saying “It’s amazing to me that ten years have passed since Twilight was first published. For me, this anniversary is a celebration of the fans, with all of their incredible passion and dedication. I’m excited to get to spend time with them again.”
The dual publication of ‘Twilight Tenth Anniversary / Life and Death’ goes on sale Tuesday (October 6). (Reuters)
