(Eagle News) — It was a triumphant evening for EBC Films’ “Hapi ang Buhay, the Musical” at the 35th Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Movies held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Pasay City, last June 2, 2019.
The film held three nominations and received the award for Best Indie Theme Song of the Year.
EBC Films has been recognized by this prestigious award-giving body for the second time in a row. Julio Sabenario received Best Movie Child Performer of the Year for his role in EBC Films’ “Guerrero” at the 34th PMPC Star Awards for Movies.
This year coincides with the celebration of 100 years of Philippine cinema.
-Best Indie Theme Song of the Year-
The winning theme song was composed by director Carlo Ortega Cuevas and arranged by Abet Alfonso.
Cuevas and Alfonso, together with the cast and crew, were ecstatic about the win. “We feel like we’re floating in the air. Sa Diyos po lahat ng kapurihan. Di po naman magagawa ito ng walang patnubay ng Panginoon,” says Alfonso. (The glory belongs to God. We couldn’t have done this without His guidance.)
Mia Suarez and Dennis Garcia who received nominations for Best New Movie Actress of the Year and Best New Movie Actor of the Year also joined the cast in receiving the award. “It was a great experience for us,” says Suarez.
Cuevas was also thankful to God for the award and congratulated his team and the cast and crew of “Hapi ang Buhay, the Musical.” He is now busy filming EBC Films’ upcoming movie, “Guerrero Dos, Tuloy ang Laban”.
Robert Capistrano of EBC Films reveals that “Guerrero Dos, Tuloy ang Laban” is currently in production and targeted to be released later this year. This is a sequel to EBC Films’ award-winning movie “Guerrero” which was released worldwide in 2017. “Our next project promises to fulfill the mission of EBC Films of providing relevant, entertaining movies that also teach moral values,” he adds.
“Hapi ang Buhay, the Musical” will be released to international audiences this year.
