(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte has slammed Vice President Leni Robredo, urging her not to run for the presidency.
“Huwag kang tumakbo ng Presidente. Wala ka talagang alam,” Duterte said in an exclusive interview with CNN Philippines.
He made the remark days after he fired Robredo as co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee Against Illegal Drugs.
The Palace has said she was fired over her and her Liberal partymates taunts Duterte dismiss her instead from the post if he did not trust her.
“Pinagbigyan ka na nga, babastusin mo pa,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo had said.
According to Duterte, he did not like it when Robredo spoke to representatives of the United States, the United Nations and other parties.
“Yung ayaw ko is, ‘yung pupunta ka sa America…you are making an as*h*le of yourself,” Duterte said, calling Robredo’s moves a form of “grandstanding.”
“You should have convened all the barangay captains, all the mayors, all the guys connected with the rehabilitation on the rural, urban level,” he said.
