(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has chosen the next General Manager of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

Cebu City Police Office Director Col. Royina Garma has been named as the new PCSO GM, replacing the former general manager Alexander Balutan who was axed last March as his stint had been marred by accusations of improper spending.

“Balutan has been out, si Garma ang papalit,” Duterte told media at the premiere night of the movie, “Kontradiksyon” on Monday night, June 24.

Garma who is the first female police chief of Cebu City, said she had already done her “research” of issues at the PCSO.

“I know what are the pressing issues at PCSO and I already have plans but it is still premature to divulge these,” Garma said in a press conference.

She had worked for the PNP for 24 years, and was assigned by Duterte to lead the Cebu City police in 2018.

Garma is set to assume her new post at the PCSO in July.

She would first avail of the early retirement program at the PNP, as she still has 10 years before her mandatory retirement.
