(Eagle News) — The Philippines is considering buying military equipment from Israel.
Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go said defense officials who accompanied President Rodrigo Duterte in his historic trip to the country “will check the possible equipment to help modernize the Philippine Coast Guard and kung may magustuhan, bibili ang government.”
The President, accompanied by his 46-man delegation, is on a four-day visit to the country.
According to Go, “more than P3 billion” has been set aside for the purchase of “ships, patrol boats, firearms and other equipment.”
The acquisition of modern military equipment from Israel could hasten the defense of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Go said.
