(Eagle News)–The Department of Foreign Affairs has recently assisted over 100 Filipinos stranded in Korea and brought them back to the Philippines.
In a statement, the DFA said the 148 Filipinos stranded due to the “intermittent schedule and frequent cancellation of international flights to Manila” departed from Incheon International Airport via special Korean Air flight KE 623 on June 7 at 6:45 p.m.
According to Charge d’Affaires Christian de Jesus, many “finished their employment contracts but could not go home because their flight bookings have been cancelled for as many as three to six times.”
The DFA said the Filipinos arrived in Manila at 9:22 p.m. on the same day.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, the Philippine Embassy has assisted 270 stranded Filipinos in Korea, both residents and transiting passengers at Incheon International Airport, the DFA said.
