DBM cuts 1B from proposed Ombudsman budget

QUEZON City, Philippines, Sept. 1 (Eagle News) — The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) reduced the requested budget of the Office of Ombudsman by Php 1. 775 billion or lower than 5% of the current budget of the said government office.

Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales requested to the committee on appropriations to uphold their additional budget request which was supported by members of the Congress, saying that said increase is justified due to the many cases that the Ombudsman is currently prosecuting.
