(Eagle News) — The Commission on Elections’ partial and unofficial results showed reelectionist senators Cynthia Villar and Grace Poe still leading the senatorial race as 96.23 percent of total election returns had already come in Wednesday morning.

The top 12 is still dominated by administration candidates, with Senator Bam Aquino of the Liberal Party, the closest opposition senator to the magic circle, managing to land only in the 14th slot.

Based on the Comelec’s partial and unofficial results coming in from 84,543 of 87,851 clustered precincts as of 9:25 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, Villar was still in the lead with 24,702,731 votes, followed by Poe with 21,592,234 votes, and former Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go with 20,043,764 votes.

The others in the top 12 are Pia Cayetano (NP) with 19,309,786 votes; Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa (PDPLBN) with 18,424,175 votes; Sonny Angara (LDP) with 17,757,700 votes; Lito Lapid (NPC) with 16,604,258 votes; Imee Marcos (NP) with 15,496,049 votes; Francis Tolentino (PDPLBN) with 15,078,777 votes; Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., (LAKAS) with 14,277,937 votes; Koko Pimentel (PDPLBN) with 14,272,196 votes; and Nancy Binay (UNA) with 14,233,462 votes.

This is however still considered unofficial as what would be used as the basis for proclaiming candidates is the Comelec’s official national canvassing of votes which only started on Tuesday afternoon.

The Comelec convened as the National Board of Canvassers on May 14 and is expected to finish the official canvass of votes for senators and party-list groups in less than 10 days.
