Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said China commits itself to working with the Philippines and other Association of Southeast Asian Nations countries for regional peace and stability in the South China Sea.

Hua emphasized that China has consistently committed itself to resolving related disputes peacefully with related sovereign states through negotiations and consultations.

“A few individuals in the Philippines may have ulterior motives in making the groundless accusation of China. They wanted nothing but to provoke conflict between China and the Philippines,” said Hua.

“We are willing to work with the Philippines and other ASEAN countries to continue to comprehensively and effectively implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC), deepen our practical maritime cooperation, and actively push forward consultations on the Code of Conduct (COC) in the South China Sea,” said Hua.

She also said that all the related parties should join hands in safeguarding the hard-won good situation in the South China Sea region and continue to promote the relations between China and the Philippines to develop in a good direction.
