China ships first core kit to Arctic pole

China has shipped its first self-designed core kit of liquefied natural gas to the Arctic from Qingdao City, Shandong Province on Saturday.

This is the first time China has transported a core process module of liquefied natural gas overseas. It will be shipped to the Yamal L-N-G, a liquefied natural gas plant located deep in the Arctic Circle.

China has undertaken design and manufacturing of 36 process modules from the plant.

“It is the world‘s largest integration project of liquefied natural gas, and the largest overseas order for our company. China was the first country to get the project of core process modules. We have contracted 36 most key process modules in the natural gas process center, which was once monopolized by foreign countries,” said Zhou Xuezhong, president of China’s Offshore oil Engineering Co.,LTD.

The Yamal L-N-G liquefied natural gas plant has the world‘s first integration project in the Arctic pole. It covers natural gas exploration, liquefaction, transportation and marketing. The kit shipped out measures 41 meters tall and weighs 3,657 tons. The 36 process modules weigh 180,000 tons in total, and they are expected to be completed in July, 2017.
