DFA confirms 3 Filipina nurses in Saudi Arabia have Mers-Cov

Three Filipina nurses working in Saudi Arabia have tested positive for the deadly Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus or Mers-Cov, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs. Foreign Affairs spokesperson Charles Jose said the three female nurses, were exposed to patients with Mers-Cov in the course of their work. LTFRB cuts by P10 the taxi flag-down rate

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has announced that that it would slash by P10 the flag-down rate for taxis nationwide. Starting March 9, the P40 flag down rate for taxis will be down to P30. Although the taximeter will not reflect this yet, the LTFRB said that taxi riders would still have to cut P10 from the taxi rate when they pay their fare. Electricity rates to increase this month

Power rates are due to increase this month because of the increase in electricity rates in the wholesale electricity spot market (WESM). The Manila Electric Company also confirmed that the generation charge will increase.  The rate of increase will be announced on Monday. In Luzon, power consumption has also increased with the start of the summer season. The Department of Energy, in the meantime, called on the public to save on electricity.

DFA brings home 77 OFWs from Libya
