Palace declares June 5 a regular holiday in PHL

(Eagle News)–The Palace has declared June 5 a regular holiday in the country. The declaration contained in  Proclamation No. 729 signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea was in observance of Eid’l Fitr or the Feast of Ramadan for Muslims. The proclamation said this was upon recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos. Eid’l Fitr is celebrated by Muslims three days after the end of the month of their fasting.  

DFA announces highest overseas voter turnout for midterm elections

(Eagle News) — The Department of Foreign Affairs-Overseas Voting Secretariat (DFA-OVS) announced through a press release that the 2019 Philippine Midterm Elections recorded the highest number of overseas voter turnout since the Overseas Voting Act was signed into law in 2003. CA justice Inting named new SC justice

(Eagle News)–Court of Appeals justice Henry Inting has been named Supreme Court justice. Inting, the brother of Commission on Elections commissioner Socorro Inting, will replace the seat vacated by Lucas Bersamin after he was appointed Chief Justice. With his appointment, the 15 seats in the High Court are now filled.

President Duterte threatens to resign if son Paolo runs for House speakership post
