ICMY: VCM malfunction normal – COMELEC

QUEZON City, Philippines – After many reports regarding malfunctioning vote-counting machines, the Commission on Elections is studying the possibility of extending the voting period, which needs a COMELEC resolution. Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said that although the vote-counting machines underwent checks and testings, it is normal for VCMs to malfunction as the machines have been transported to distant locations. Machine malfunction incidents spoil election day

  Vote Counting Machines or VCMs in some areas marred the early casting of votes by registered voters during election day. 93,000 VCMs were deployed by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in precincts around the country.
