Peralta is PNP officer-in-charge

(Eagle News)–Police Lt. Emmanuel Baloloy Peralta has been designated as officer-in-charge of the Philippine National Police. A memorandum signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and dated March 27 said Peralta will hold the post effective March 31 “until a replacement is appointed or until otherwise directed by this office.” The memorandum was addressed to Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos. Peralta effectively replaced General Benjamin Acorda, whose term ended on Sunday, March 31.    

5.0-magnitude earthquake strikes off Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News)–A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur early Monday, April 1. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake hit at 5:16 a.m. The epicenter was 31 kilometers northeast of Lingig. The depth of focus was 10 kilometers. NIA: At least 23 dam projects expected to be completed by 2028

(Eagle News)–The National Irrigation Administration has said it expects to complete 20 medium-term projects and three to five long-term projects until 2028. NIA Administrator Eduardo Guillen said these include the Tumauini Dam in Isabela, as well as dam projects in Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur. PAGASA: Easterlies affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao

(Eagle News)–The easterlies are affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, as a result, Metro Manila will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. The rest of the country will experience the same conditions. Flashfloods or landslides during severe thunderstorms are possible. According to PAGASA, the entire country will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
