PHL protests China’s naming of undersea features at PHL Rise

Suspected Abu Sayyaf members abduct gov’t engineer in Sulu

(Eagle News) — Suspected  members of the Abu Sayyaf abducted a government engineer in Sulu on Wednesday. The police said Enrico Nee, a Department of Public Works and Highways drill supervisor, was  leaving his house in Barangay Upper San Raymundo in Jolo when the abduction took place around 8 a.m. The suspects fled toward Barangay Anuling in Patikul on board a vehicle. Authorities are now conducting an investigation.

4.3-magnitude quake jolts Leyte early Wednesday

(Eagle News) — A 4.3-magnitude earthquake jolted Leyte early Wednesday. The quake–which was of tectonic origin—took place eight kilometers northwest of Kananga, at 1 a.m. Depth of focus was at 8 kilometers. An Intensity IV was felt in Capoocan and Palompon, Leyte; and an Intensity II in Cebu City.
