Binay to barangay workers: Help contain spread of ASF

(Eagle News)–Senator Nancy Binay on Tuesday, Sept. 17, called on barangay officials to help contain the outbreak of African Swine Flu.

In a statement, Binay said because of the “intimate knowledge of barangay workers of their respective constituencies, they could be crucial in monitoring hog raisers whose livestock are affected by the outbreak.”

According to Binay, barangay officials can also  “encourage backyard raisers to notify them or representatives of the (local government unit) or (Department of Agriculture) to report if there’s something wrong with their pigs.”

She said they could also be  effective bridges between hog raisers and municipal or city veterinarians and the DA.
