(Eagle News) — Former Senate Sergeant -at -Arms Jose Balajadia Jr. passed away early Sunday due to heart failure.
Balajadia passed away at 12:50 a.m., July 7, at the Baguio General, according to his son, Jet, in a statement to reporters.
“He succumbed to heart failure,” he said.
His wake will be held at the St. Peter Chapel on Marcos Highway in Baguio city until 8p.m. on Wednesday, July 10.
On Thursday morning, July 11, Balajadia’s remains will be airlifted to Villamor Air Base where a military wake will be held until his burial at the Libingan ng Mga Bayani, his son said.
Senators mourned Balajadia’s passing, expressing their deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of the longest serving Senate sergeant at arms.
Balajadia resigned on June 30, according to Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.
He said Balajadia was already “suffering from a number of ailments” at the time.
Senator Francis Pangilinan recalled how Balajadia did his job with passion and dedication.
“It is now our time to say ‘All rise’ for a man of passion and dedication,” he said in a statement.
“Salamat sa iyong paglilingkod sa institusyon, General Balajadia, sa isa sa pinakamapaghamong mga panahon ng Senado, kabilang na ang paghuli kay Sen. de Lima at ang pagtangkang paghuli kay Sen. Trillanes. Our deepest sympathies to the family of the longest serving Sergeant-at-Arms in the history of the Philippine Senate,” Pangilinan added.
