UPDATED: Eight reported killed in NLEX bus accident

(Eagle News) – Eight persons were reported killed, while eight more passengers were injured after an air-conditioned bus turned on its side in NLEX on Friday evening.

The Philippine Red Cross which came to assist said that the incident happened near the Valenzuela Exit, Torres Bugallon Northbound.

The bus had a license plate AGA 8610.

The incident affected traffic flow on both the northbound and southbound as of 8:30 p.m. whern the tailend of the traffic was before Valenzuela Exit and at the northbound at Camachile.

But NLEX later said in a tweet around 11 p.m., that both lanes were already passable.

“The bus involved in the accident has already been recovered and moved to the roadside. All northbound lanes are now open to traffic, while three lanes are open in the southbound section,” NLEX said in a tweet posted at 10:50 p.m.

The identities of the victims were not yet released.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.
