AFP to ends operation in Maguindanao and Cotabato this weekend

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) targets to finish its offensives against Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Maguindanao and Cotabato this weekend.

This is to allow the displaced residents to return to their homes.

According to the newly-installed AFP Spokesman Brig. Gen. Joselito Kakilala, they have already expanded the operations for three consecutive days. The clearing operation started yesterday.

If the clearing operations will not be finished by Saturday, the military clarifies that they can still ask the Ad Hoc Joint Action Group for another extension.

However, the military targets to reduce the capabilities of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) within three months.

According to reports, more than 40,000 civilians or 8,000 families were affected by the military’s offensives against the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Central Mindanao.
